Our three and a half hour video workshop shows you what they are, how they work as basic plots, and how they can help you plan and write the stories you want to tell. With definitions, examples and practical exercises, the workshop gives you the confidence to choose from the story types and stay in control of your plot. What this workshop covers

Our Stay Home workshops are based on our live Zoom Stay Home Sundays, but with the added benefit of being able to download them and enjoy them in your own time, at your own pace. They take about three to four hours, with breaks, and include time for you to write with guided exercises based on the workshop theme.

The 7 Stories introduces you to the 7 story plots identified by Christopher Booker in The Seven Basic Plots, Why We Tell Stories(Bloomsbury 2004). Those are: comedy, tragedy, rags to riches, overcoming the monster, the quest, voyage and return, and rebirth. All you need is your laptop, a notebook and pen, a quiet room and some undisturbed time to yourself. Our expert tutors Kath Morgan and Jane Moss will provide the rest.
