Rosemerryn is five miles west of Penzance, easy to reach by road or mainline rail. Built in the early 1900s for artists, it has everything you need for the perfect writing retreat: a room of your own with a desk, a stunning main room with sofas you can sink into and a roaring woodburner, a farmhouse kitchen where the food magic happens, and a light, bright studio perfect for our morning workshops. Rosemerryn is tucked away in its own wooded grounds just a short walk from Lamorna Cove and the famous Merry Maidens stone circle. You'll feel you've left the world behind, and apart from getting on with your writing we promise you won't have to lift a finger all week.
The retreat week
Your week starts from 4.00pm when you arrive on the first day. Each morning we offer a kickstart writing workshop to get you writing with some tools and inspiration. After that the day is yours to get on with a writing project, draft, edit, plan, read and relax. You can opt for one to ones with both Kath and Jane during the week, and you'll enjoy dinner each evening followed by talks and readings by the fire. Midweek we'll be visited by author Anna Wilson who will run morning workshop and provide insight into her own journey as a published writer of books for children and memoir and fiction for adults. By the end of the week you'll have made real progress and we'll help you make plans to follow up on once you go home.
“It’s a magical week, like no other you will have had. Wonderful food and drink with all diets catered seamlessly, but it’s a totally nurturing, supportive environment – like being wrapped in a cashmere shawl”.
Rosie Speer, guest in December 2022
